We make a thousand decisions everyday, big and small. What to eat, what to wear, where to go, what to do, etc. But how well are we making those decisions, really?
In life, we make decisions almost every second of every day. Some consciously, some unconsciously. But make no mistake, a decision is always being made. Even deciding not to do anything because we're indecisive, is in itself a decision.
So, if we are making decisions all day, every day, why is it so damn hard sometimes to make one single decision. Think about it! We get stressed, we think, we obsess, we research, and we debate in our minds over and over again, arguing for all sides at the same time. And when all that fails we solicit the advice of our family and friends. It’s almost insane that for living beings that make decisions at almost every moment, that this process isn’t easier.
But here’s the reason…
We focus too much on logic and reason to make all our decisions.
That’s right! The very thing that we hold to the highest regard in most cultures today, is the very reason that we are making bad decisions. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that logic and reason don’t have a place in the decision making process. But they are only a very small piece of the pie.
Your intuition is your life GPS.
Many believe, myself included, that the intuition that we ALL have, is the compass of the soul. The compass of our life. When we follow the guidance of our intuition, it will never steer us in the wrong direction.
Think about it, how many times have you ignored your intuition only to regret it later. How many times has your intuition told you “Oh no honey! Stay away from him!” and you reasoned your way out of it only to regret it later. I know you’ve been there. And don’t worry, you are so not alone!
Your intuition is a gift and you can use it at all times to guide you in the right direction. The problem is that many of us have become so accustomed to using logic and reason, that we’ve weakened our connection to our intuition. It’s okay though! The intuition like any muscle in the body can be worked out and pumped up to perform at peak levels at all times.
Here are some simple techniques and suggestions to help you harness the power of you intuition A.S.A.P!

Get Out Of Your Head And Into Your Heart

The quickest and most effective way to tap into the power of your intuition, is to get the heck out of your head. It’s way to crowded up in there with all if those opinions and limiting beliefs wildly running the show.
Practice thinking and feeling from your heart. That’s the quiet and peaceful place in your heart center that will whisper to you only when it’s quiet in your mind. Meditation is a great way to quiet the mind. So the next time you know you’ve been overthinking a decision, try meditating to help clear your thoughts away, so that you can bring the focus back to your heart. Ask The Questions You Need The Answers To

As with any GPS, you have to first tell it where you want to go, before it can give you the best route to get there. So when you do need to make a decision, try and get into a calm centered place within your mind and then simply ask your question to yourself. Then take note of the first thing that comes to mind. Even if it’s not what you want to hear, it’s important that you trust it.

Practice With The Small Stuff

For gosh sake, please don’t use this technique tomorrow to decide something major, like if and where you should move!! The intuition needs to be strengthened first and slowly. For now, practice making intuitive decisions with the small stuff. These are the things that have little to no consequence attached to them such as what to eat, what to wear, where to go. As you get more comfortable with using your intuition you can slowly work your way up the consequence ladder.

Affirm Your Decision By Saying “What’s The Worst That Could Happen”

As you make your decisions more and more using your intuition, self doubt is bound to pop up. Especially as you start to move up the consequence ladder. In fact, as this happens, you will need to learn the gentle balance between intuition, and logic. Now it’s important to remember that the two are often on opposite sides so be mindful of this. And when you do find yourself in a situation where your intuition is telling you to do something that’s scary or seems risky, simply ask yourself “what’s the absolute worst that can happen”. Chances are it’s really not that bad in which case go for it. If it really is too much of a risk and your not comfortable with going in that direction, than don’t, and trust that you made the best decision that you could at the time.
